KUTA,
BATUBELIG & NEIGBOURHOOD
Batubelig is
the most northern “banyar” = village community in Seminyak, which is “the
place to be” in Bali these days, in most foreigners’ opinion,
just north of the Kuta and Legian tourist hubs, but sharing the same beach
– and sunsets.
“Our” village maintains all traditional Bali charm and beauty,
while remaining close to the crowdy parts of Kuta beach, the shopping malls,
the fancy boutiques of Legian and the trendy restaurants 1/2 kilometer further
south in Seminyak. It only takes 1 1/2 hour to walk the whole beach from
“us” to the most crowded, south end of Kuta. By car you are
there – or at any other destination in the area in 15 minutes.
Three bicycles are at free disposal for all guests. Our
staff gets hold of a taxi in five minutes. The price will rarely pass 3
US. In addition our guest motorcycle may be used by appointment.
Back in the house again, you are far enough from the madding crowds to hear
nothing but ocean waves, singing frogs, our fondling fountains – and
an occasional time-confused cock.
“Our beach” is equally peaceful. You reach it in a five minutes’
walk past rice-fields and friendly dogs & cows and a few other foreigners’ villas. At this part of the beach you find a hotel and three cheap but excellent
local beach cafes. 15 minutes further south you find everything. 10 minutes
north you encounter a virginal fishing village without any other foreigner.
